Welcome to Pioneer Dining! Our mission is to provide you with exceptional quality, exceptional service and a creative cutting edge culinary experience Our professional staff is available to assist in planning your special event Monday-Friday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Please contact our Catering Office for customized service and menus. Stand service includes set-up and break down, basic black linens for food and beverage, warming equipment and service ware, and environmentally friendly disposable plates, forks, knives, and cups.
Payment arrangements for your event must be received by the catering office no later than five business days prior to the event. Clients outside the University System will be required to prepay 50% when booking and 50% the day of the event. University events will be master billed to CSU East Bay. You will need your department ID, account number, fund and attendee’s list, as well as your authorized University account number.
To ensure your event goes smoothly and meets all your expectations, we kindly request that orders be placed at least five business days in advance. However, we understand that plans can change unexpectedly, and we will do our best to accommodate last-minute requests. Please note that orders placed less than 72 hours before the event will incur a $25 late fee. Additionally, there is a minimum catering order of $100. If you have any special requests or need help with planning, feel free to reach out—we’re here to help make your event a success!
For a truly customized experience, such as custom menus and themes, we kindly request a 14-day notice to allow for thoughtful menu planning and sourcing of the freshest ingredients. Nutritional Information For those who require it, additional nutritional information is available upon request.
Your confirmed guest count is crucial for us to deliver impeccable service. Please provide us with the final count four business days prior to your event to ensure a seamless experience for all attendees. If you have selected a plated meal option with personalized guest selections, we will request a seating chart, along with menu cards indicating the entrée preference.
Your guests’ dietary preferences are important to us. Please inform us of any special dietary requirements as soon as possible, and no later than three business days prior to your event. Our culinary team will work diligently to accommodate these needs.
For the health and safety of all guests, our policy requires that any leftover food be handled by the Catering Department at the end of the event for proper disposal. To ensure food safety, we do not allow guests to remove any remaining food or beverages from the event. If food is taken away, the Catering Department cannot assume responsibility or liability for the quality or safety of those items. As such, we do not provide to-go boxes. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in maintaining the highest standards of food safety.
Please remember to provide tax-exempt forms to our office three business days before your event to ensure smooth processing.
Our structure is based on four-hour increments, allowing ample time for setup, service, and cleanup. Events exceeding this timeframe may be subject to additional service fees.
For attended events, the standard duration of service is three hours, which includes both the start of service and the breakdown. Service personnel levels are based on the number of guests, as follows:-Front of House Server for Attended Buffet: $42.00per hour for every 25 guests.-Front of House Server for Plated Service: $42.00per hour for every 15 guests.-Bartender: $45.00 per hour for every 50 guests.-Chef for Action or Carving Station: $85.00 perhour for every 50 guests.Please note that all service staff have a minimumof four hours, and additional hours may berequired for event extensions or special requests.For off-campus events, a $75.00 delivery feeapplies to standard buffet services. For your convenience, disposable serviceware is included with all orders to accommodate the guaranteed guest count. For full-service plated catered events (up to 200 people), china, glassware, linen, stemware, flatware, and utensils are provided at no additional charge to university events, unless the event organizer specifically requests disposable ware at the time of ordering. If disposable ware is requested, the contractor will ensure the provision of high-quality, attractive, and environmentally sensitive options for use during the event.
We include tablecloths for all food and beverage service tables at your event. Additional tablecloths for non-food tables are available for a $7.99 per table fee. Please inquire about sizing and any additional colors that could be offered. Specialty linens can also be arranged at market price. If desired, event planners may work directly with the rental company to avoid additional costs associated with ordering rentals.
For all non-food related equipment, please contact CSU East Bay’s Facilities Management at 510-885-2917. This includes the reservation oftables, setup and configuration, garbagereceptacles, audio/visual equipment, and anyother general event needs. Be sure to coordinatethese details directly with their team to ensureeverything is in place for your event.
While we hope that cancellations won’t be necessary, we understand that circumstances may arise. We kindly ask for at least five business days’ notice for cancellations to avoid any charges. In the event of unforeseen cancellations, within three business days, billing will occur for 50% of the event amount.
